Synchronisation of users and grades between moodle-STACK and Canvas

We are currently seeing issues with the synchronisation of users and grades between moodle-STACK and Canvas. Please bear with us as we investigate this, it does look like we may need to wait until the moodle upgrade scheduled in November for these issues to be resolved. Please be assured that student attempts are being saved on the Moodle-STACK platform.

Specifically, current issues include:

  • Users are not being automatically synced to the moodle course spaces, resulting in students missing from the participants list and not showing in the quiz results table
  • A number of grades are not being synchronised to Canvas and Canvas may be reporting that the assignment has not been completed, when it has
  • Where multiple attempts are allowed, the grade in Canvas does not show the highest mark, but instead, the first mark
  • Some students are diverted to the moodle home page rather than the relevant course space

Please be assured that, in general, the students can access the moodle-STACK quizzes as usual and the attempts are being correctly logged in moodle-STACK. If you have a student query and wish to view an attempt, but the student is  not on the moodle course participant list, you can add them by going to participation > enrol user, start typing their name and then add them. Their quiz attempts will then show in the results table of the relevant quiz.

If students approach you concerned that a mark has not reached Canvas, please reassure the students that the information is being stored on the system and that it will all be synchronised with Canvas at a point in the future.
